Gifted learners love to examine, collect, and question as they attempt to understand their world. WCGL recognizes and addresses these traits in very young children by offering learning opportunities developed specifically for them.
Young Discoverers is designed for children 2-1/2 to 3-1/2 years of age.
Young Discoverers programs guide learners toward development of social-cognitive skills as they apply to self and to a group. The relative social, emotional, physical, and intellectual ages of each child is considered as group experiences are planned.
A Young Discoverers program will be held this summer in July, on Tuesdays and Thursdays, from 10:00-11:30 a.m. There will be seven sessions in 2017 due to the 4th of July holiday. The theme of this summer’s program is Hidden Treasures.
Together with their teacher, learners will make discoveries about life through play and experimentation with various materials. Activities will assist learners to appreciate social conventions, numerical and spatial relations, stories and word play, interactive games, and choice making.
